Model "A" Pedal Car

As cars were produced in the early 20th century, Pedal Cars were designed to mirror the automotive styling of the day. It was self-propelled by pedaling, and it’s design allowed the body to surround the driver, influenced by the velocipede, the wagon, and carriage. As time progressed, the body reflected a variety of styles with all the grace and charm, present in many automobiles. The inventors of the earliest cars were named after themselves- like Winton, Ford, Packard and Olds. These cars featured – spoke wheels, tiller steering, carriage lamps and various control levers, as early Pedal Cars resembled the latest auto creations.  One of our earliest Pedal Cars , is the beautifully crafted Model A by Ford; with starting crank, oversize head-lamps and rubber wheels, running boards, ball-bearing drive, adjustable pedal assembly, chrome – grille, steering wheel and hub-caps, all wrapped in a high luster Powder Coat finish. Crosley Neon Bubbler - 1201

It’s amazing to look at the advancement of the “Jukebox” in the last century. Coin-operated Music Boxes and Player Pianos were the first creations of automated coin-operated musical devices, in the 1890′s. Some machines contained carousels for playing multiple records. In 1928, Seeburg invented the “Selectophone”, with 10 turntables mounted vertically on a spindle.                                                       “Jukebox” came into popularity in the 40′s, whereby- wall-boxes were a strategic and profitable part of a Diner, Arcade or Laundromat; remote control enabled a patron to select tunes from their table or booth. By the mid 40′s, three-quarters of the records produced in America went into Jukeboxes.                                                                     Americans have always admired the Jukebox , featuring the Crosley 1201 Neon Bubbler. With stunning appointments, an i Pod Docking Station, 10 Disc CD Changer, AM/FM Radio, Authentic Neon Lighting, Percolating Bubble Tubes, Stereo Speakers, and Remote Control with Cherry exterior finish. Pete Petersen, a true American success story, founded one of America’s most successful Magazine Publishing Companies. One of Pete’s secret to his success, “We hired talented guys who knew the subject”, a style of knowledgeable, in-depth reporting gave Hot Rod authentic, first-person validity, written by experienced , respected authorities.                    Certainly, our Hot Rod Pedal Car is a fine example of the Hot Rods, Petersen would report on and support.
