It’s amazing to look at the advancement of the “Jukebox” in the last century. Coin-operated Music Boxes and Player Pianos were the first creations of automated coin-operated musical devices, in the 1890′s. Some machines contained carousels for playing multiple records. In 1928, Seeburg invented the “Selectophone”, with 10 turntables mounted vertically on a spindle. “Jukebox” came into popularity in the 40′s, whereby- wall-boxes were a strategic and profitable part of a Diner, Arcade or Laundromat; remote control enabled a patron to select tunes from their table or booth. By the mid 40′s, three-quarters of the records produced in America went into Jukeboxes. Americans have always admired the Jukebox , featuring the Crosley 1201 Neon Bubbler. The 30′s thru the 50′s were known for an Era of Jalopy Racing. It was a time of few rules, when Jalopies were crude, a crazy time when parts were built, as people could not afford new parts. The local Service Station always had an Ole Jalopy sitting alongside it. On Sunday afternoons, families knew the value in spending time with relatives, would pile into the Ole Banger and head to the local track for an afternoon of Crashin-n-Bashin. Pete Petersen, a true American success story, founded one of America’s most successful Magazine Publishing Companies. Petersen set out @ 21 yrs., to create a National Publication to cover the fledgling Hot Rod community. Pete had the vision to see that Hot Rodding was more than a bunch of kids racing at dry lakes and local streets. It was becoming a Major Sport. Pete understood the business potential in selling advertisements to budding Speed Equipment Producers. Despite his age, he somehow knew that if he could focus this growing passion and contribute to making Hot Rodding legitimate and safe, the sport would grow- and it would last. One of Pete’s secret to his success, “We hired talented guys who knew the subject”, a style of knowledgeable, in-depth reporting gave Hot Rod authentic, first-person validity, written by experienced , respected authorities. The EMS apparatus, is designed for technical rescue call, as in vehicle Extractions, confined space rescues, swift-water and building collapses.
